According to wire reports, the vocalist was unresponsive when paramedics arrived at the Bel Air home he was hiring while rehearsing for a chain of 50 sold-out shows at London's O2 Arena beginning next month and continuing into 2010.
The concerts, backed by 2 billionaires, were planned as a method of reviving his career. Those near to the frontman was hoping it might function as a trial run for a lengthy world tour, new album, Michael Jackson museum and Vegas stage show, according to stories reports.
Jackson had publicly demonstrated that he was not physically prepared for shows, which sold out pretty much instantly. The opening dates had already been pushed back.
Earlier this month, he allegedly told a grouping of fans outside his Burbank rehearsal studio, "I'm truly angry with them booking me up to do 50 shows. I only wanted to do 10, and take the tour around the world to other cities, not 50 in one place. I went to bed knowing I sold ten dates and awakened with the news I was prepared to do 50."
Jackson started singing at the age of 8 as a member of the Jackson five, the family band that encompassed his brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon. It was the start of a long and turbulent career that peaked with the release of 1982's "Thriller," which holds the title of the best-selling album of all time.
